Map revision in Season 14

Basically, changes have been made that make the map more symmetrical and therefore more balanced for both teams.

  • For the top and botlane, the walls were made thicker to make ganks more difficult
  • The elongated bushes on both lanes have been replaced by smaller ones
  • On the midlane, the bushes were placed further towards the river to make ganking more difficult and to provide more security for immobile midlaners.
  • In the jungle itself, new small bushes have been added and removed to renew the dynamics of the fights
  • The structure of the Baron Pit has been changed, which can now take on 3 different shapes like Nashor himself

Changes to the Herald and Baron

Changes to Nashor and Herald are in the spotlight in this new League of Legends season.

  • Between the 5th and 14th minutes of the game, smaller voidlings await you in the Baron Pit
  • These can be fought by your team and upon defeat they grant a special buff that makes it easier to destroy towers, the strength of this buff is affected by the number of Voidlings defeated
  • From minute 14 the familiar Herald returns. After you defeat him you can ride him, similar to Sion's ultimate.
  • A controlled dash into a tower causes significantly more damage if you ride it
  • After the dash, the Herald continues its path alone in the lane.
  • From minute 20 onwards, one of three new Baron forms appears
  • Both the Blue and Red buffs then appear as a new Void form, which are harder to fight but grant the buffs to the entire team
  • Even the Scuttler transforms into a Voidling, revealing a large area of hidden wards and champions when killed.
  • These changes promise fascinating dynamics and strategic depth in the late stages of the game.

Change to Ranked/MMR system

There will also be revisions to the ranked system in Season 14. There will be 3 splits this year:

  1. Split from January - May
  2. Split from May - September
  3. Split from September - January

The MMR system in League will also change in the future. Instead of just taking wins or losses into account, other factors should also be taken into account, such as kills or deaths or behavior in the match itself.
